Music To My Ears…

I don’t know what it is but there isn’t , in my opinion,anything better than finally sitting down to listen to an album your been expecting for so long. For me, I enjoy being able to compare artistic growth from one body of work to another. I enjoy trying to figure out what aspect in which the artist is speaking on from song to song. Whether personal accounts, preconceived emotions, or purely fictional, the feeling that for the next 2:30 to 10 mins (shout out to all the Joe Budden Fans)you will be told a story about something that inspired them No matter how painful or embarrassing if may be, they still invited you for a ride along with them . For me sometimes I get attached to the ride in the sense that I almost create a image for each and every word as I’m listening to the song. Interesting right?

But whats more so interesting is the number of bodies of work that artist have be releasing as of late.

The Clipse with they’re 3rd album “Till The Caskets Drops” almost serves as a true open letter to fans, family members, critics, and friends alike about the pain and feelings outside of the money, fame and the entertainments. Nothing less than whats expected of the self proclaimed “Best Duo Ever”

Rihanna’s Rated R is nothing less than what I expected her next album to be. Growth, maturity, and the ability to rise when people thought she couldn’t .

Lupe Fiasco is an extremely talanted artist and I thought this was proven in great detail with his first and second albums. “Enemy Of The State ‘A Love Story’ ” is the wake up call for all the people that may doubt his talent. a 20 minute mixtape? It still bugs me out that he found so much in 20 mins with out seeming dull, boring , and repetitive. Not to mention the guy has a hell of a marketing team. His nate tape drops 12/25 Merry Christmas in advance.

And with all this new music and roller coaster of emotions, i have felt a great surge of new energy and creativity. Being that art imitates life, it time to release some of this positive energy. So we got a lot planned for the month of December and hopefully it all materializes. Till then ill blogging with all the new RoaM info! Ryan Leslie Listening Party

Yesterday I went out to the Ryan Leslie Private Listening Experience and it most def was that. So beside the cocktails and the hor’devoers, it had a great atmosphere, good ppl all and all nice warm up.

Now the show itself starts and he walks out and sits behind a piano and starts to explain the whole reasoning for the album and what inspired it. For every song on the album there seem to be a reason and or situation behind it. What was interesting is was all for the attention for a woman. Flying across the world and attempting to convince her of what she means to him. It almost felt metaphorical in that maybe she is his music and he need keep reminding her(his music) of the importance she has. Might sounds crazy but keep in mind art is up for interpretation and I don’t know how far fetched my idea just is, But I do know that if I exude the same passion in my dreams and all goals that he did for her….my peak is limitless.

As far as the album goes it sounds like something everyone will enjoy so cop that Ryan Leslie “Transition” album!!

So on Tuesday I got the chance to see The Clipse perform at Hiro. Wow what a show! I missed alot of the other performance but I did get to catch Donnis, an ATL based artist set and it was pleasantly surprised. He did a great job and it seemed that he had a great following in NY. He also brought out another artist during this set Pill, another ATL based artist with a crazy track “Trap Going Ham”…Wow…it had Hiro rocking. Which led to the main event…The Clipse….I’ve been listening to them since the Smash “Grindin” and been following ever since. From “Kinda Like A Big Deal” to “Wamp Wamp” to their feature on Birdman’s “What Happened To That Boy”, I really didnt expect that so that put the night over the top. The Clipse especially Pusha T have a very passionate performance and just showed that every artist has a great connection to their work. Def well worth it!!!

Wale Concert Recap

Wow! Pretty much is all that can be said for that event. With a line up of rising talents this show was definately worth more that you may have paid. I did get there a little later than planned (to many reasons to expose..lol) when I got there Big Sean was performing and it seemed like the crowd was feeling him but I couldn’t tell because I got there at the end of his set. Next up was Tanya Morgan for the first time seeing them perform it was a great expericence for me real classic and enjoyable music. J.Cole performed and ironicly is friends with some of my mutual friends and we had met many times prior. Another performamce from an artist I’d heard about and never really saw but he did a good job of keeping the crowd into the music and they def loved him more once he announced he was signing to Jay-z Roc Nation! Congrads!

Colin Monroe perform right before Wale and being that I had heard so much about him and his music I was excited to see his live performance and I was far from disappointed. “Cannon Ball” was a crowd favorite and when he brought out Joell Ortiz it gave his performance a little more excitement and the crowd enjoyed that.

WAAAAALLLLLLLLEEEEEE!!!!!! The headliner of The Deficit tour did his thing to say the least. From a live band shout to UCB, to great stage presence, to a good control of the crowd. Performing hits like “Back in the GoGo”, “The Cypher” with Young Chris from the Young Guns. He came out to help him out with that track and the crowd went wild. Even Kid Cudi came out to perform his hit single “Day And Night” which of course Everyone in the crowd went crazy over. Wale’s show basically reassured ANYONE in the NY state area that He’s gonna be someone we are hearing about for a long time and 09 is shaping up to be his year.
